Hamburger with Cheese

Hamburger with cheese is what I’d have when on the road trip. It’s convenient and reasonably priced. However there’s no reason not cook burgers at home. You will then know exactly what goes into those patties, no mystery meats and also you can control how you want them cooked. There’s nothing worse than dried over cooked beef patties. I prefer my burger medium rare.

Ingredients

  • 500 g beef mince

  • 4 slices cheese preferably American or cheddar

  • 4 brioche buns split

  • 4 pickles ,sliced lengthwise

  • 1 small Spanish Onion, thinly sliced

  • Mustard,tomato sauce,salt & pepper

  • 2 teaspoons oil

  • 1 egg

  • Small handful of breadcrumbs

  • One tomato sliced thinly into 8 slices

Directions

  • In a bowl, mix minced beef breadcrumbs egg with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Divide into four portions and shape into patties just slight larger than your burger buns.
  • Add a little oil on a pan or hot plate and cook patties about 5 minutes on each side. When patties are done, place cheese on each and lower heat. Remove to a plate and set aside
  • Place the buns cut side down in the hot plate just to warm up.
  • Assemble the burgers. Bottom bun, lettuce, tomato, sliced pickles, sliced onion and burger patty with cheese. Smear mustard and ketchup on the other half of bun and top the burger. Serve with chips.
